If you’re considering booking long term parking at Sydney Airport, you’ll be relieved to know that it doesn't have to cost a small fortune. Of course, if you want to park right next to the terminal entrance you’ll have to pay a premium, but if you don’t mind taking a shuttle bus at some point in your journey, you stand to save a tidy sum. There are plenty of affordable, reliable off-site car parks close to Sydney Airport, which offer discounted rates on longer stay lengths. Sure, these car parks might not be as close to the terminals as P1, P2, or P7, but what they lack in proximity they make up for in price. Read on to find out how you can save on long term parking Sydney Airport.
Sydney Airport owns and maintains several long term car parks, including Blu Emu, P1, P2, P3, P7, and P9. Outside of the airport zone, there are several private companies which offer shuttle parking, from the well known Park ‘N Fly and Air Travel Parking, and the newer Space Shuttle Parking, to the reliable Mascot Airport Parking and Discount Airport Parking. These third-party car parks are all clustered around the airport, and usually offer free shuttle services to and from the Domestic and International Terminals.
In a recent study, Executive Traveller found that these car parks typically cost less than half as much as the official long-term car parks. A word of advice - just make sure that you compare the prices to ensure that you park in the right one. Off-site car parks, although similar to one another in terms of location, facilities, and services, can have dramatically different rates.
Generally speaking, if you want to park on-site at the airport for your next holiday, the best way to do so is to book in advance on the Sydney Airport website. Advance online rates are less costly than drive-up fees, and the airport occasionally runs promotions. Stays of 15 days can be booked for $229.00 at Domestic P1 Parking, while longer trips of 21 and 31 days would set you back $299.00 and $345.00 respectively - which works out as roughly $11.12 per day on month-long bookings. Drive-up rates are typically more expensive, and can be viewed in the table below:
Car Park | 1 Week | 2 Weeks | Keep keys? | Domestic or Intl? | Distance to Terminal |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Blu Emu | $157.00 | $189.00 | Yes | Domestic | 15 min drive |
P3 Car Park | $190.00 | $279.00 | Yes | Domestic | 8 min on foot |
P1 & P2 Car Parks | $262.00 | $492.00 | Yes | Domestic | 3 - 5 min on foot |
P7 Car Park | $297.00 | $474.00 | Yes | International | 5 min on foot |
Guarenteed Space | $240.00 | $379.20 | Yes | Both | 3 - 5 min on foot |
Off-site car parks use different price structures for different lengths of time. The car park that’s the cheapest for week-long stays might not be the best choice for three days. It’s always worth comparing the different rates, to find the best price for your travel dates. What these car parks do have in common however, is that they require you to book your parking at least a few hours in before arriving, if not 24, preferably online, and pay for your entire stay in advance. You will also need to leave your car keys with most, so they can move your car if necessary. Always check before booking if you don’t feel comfortable with this. The car park staff will not access your vehicle unnecessarily, or drive it around, but they will need to retain access. You can always ask the car park staff on duty about their policies, upon arrival, for more information.
To get an idea of how much you could save by using an off-site car park, we’ve compared the rates of the major on-site and off-site facilities in the table below:

3 Days | $155.00 | $112.00 | $136.00 | $101.00 | $57.00 |
4 Days | $202.00 | $128.00 | $156.00 | $121.00 | $76.00 |

It's important to bear in mind that if you decide to cancel your parking with 48 hour’s notice or more, you’ll generally get your money back, (sometimes minus an administration fee). However, if you cancel your parking on short notice, or fail to show up, you’ll be charged for the entire stay. This also applies to online bookings made on Sydney Airport's website, so make sure you read the terms and conditions.
Most off-site car parks will wash and vacuum your vehicle for around $30.00, before you arrive back from your trip. Some will even help you to arrange mechanical repairs and pink/blue slips, for an additional fee. Just note that some of these car storage facilities are relatively small and can book out quickly. Unfortunately, you can’t just turn up a few hours before your flight, and hope to find a space and organise your car wash. You must book off-site Sydney Airport parking in advance.
