Types of Sydney Airport Car Parking

You will find 6 official car parks in Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport: including P1, P2, P3, P7, P9, the Guaranteed Space Zone, and Blu Emu, as well as a variety of low cost, private car parks with shuttle services, and premium valet services. These car parks fall into two distinct groups: off-site and on-site, and differ in their proximity to the airport building, their ownership and management, and most importantly, by price.

As a general rule, off-site car parks are much more competitively priced as they’re a little further away from the terminals than on-site facilities. To make up for the distance, most if not all, offer complimentary shuttle transfers in both directions to ensure that you get to your flight on time.

Car Parks with Shuttle Bus Services

Long-term car parks near Sydney Airport which provide shuttle bus services are the most affordable, and therefore recommended for budget conscious travellers looking to park their vehicles for one day or more.

As these parking lots are outside of the airport, the car parks benefit from lower rental prices for their sites and can offer their parking spaces to customers at a better rate. Customers simply park their vehicle at the car park, check-in at the reception desk, and then take the complimentary shuttle bus to the airport. On their return, they take the bus back to the parking lot to collect their car.

park-n-flyPark & Fly

A sound choice for both international and domestic travellers, Park & Fly is located right next to Sydney Airport. The purpose built undercover facility has offered discounted airport parking for many years, and attracts many repeat customers due to its competitive rates and great customer service. There’s an on demand shuttle bus service which runs customers to the airport terminals and back, which takes 5-10 minutes. Park & Fly is open 7 days a week, between 5:00 am and 11:00 pm.

air-travel-parkingAir Travel Parking

One of the most affordable long-term parking services available, Air Travel Parking offers the best daily flat rate for off-site parking, complete with free shuttle bus service. As one of the most trusted long- and short-term airport parking providers in Sydney, Air Travel Parking offers all of the security features and services you would expect from official onsite airport parking, but for a fraction of the price. The facility is within close proximity to all airport terminals, and is open between 5:00 am and 11:00 pm, 7 days a week.

space-shuttle-parkingSpace Shuttle Parking

Space Shuttle Airport Parking is another affordable and secure off-site car parking option at Sydney Airport. The facility is undercover, with 24/7 security, and child-friendly shuttle bus services to Terminals 1, 2, and 3. Space Shuttle Airport Parking is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please note that it is not possible to reserve a space at Space Shuttle Airport Parking through Flyparks at present. You would need to book directly on the car park’s website to utilise their services.

space-shuttle-parkingSpace Shuttle Limited Space

Space Shuttle (Limited Space) is the rooftop level of Space Shuttle’s parking facility in Mascot. With a limited number of car parking spots available, this affordable alternative to airport terminal parking usually sells out quickly. Space Shuttle Airport Parking’s shuttle bus runs from 4:00am to 11:30pm, and guarantees a convenient and comfortable start to your holiday. Please note that it is no longer possible to reserve a space at Space Shuttle (Limited Space) through Flyparks.

Valet Parking

Valet airport parking allows you to drop off your vehicle at the airport and head straight to the departure gate. A driver will meet you to collect your car keys and then park your car for you. On your return, they will drive your car back to the airport and meet you. Valet services are popular with business travellers, but a pricey option compared to off-site car parks with shuttle services.

On-Site Airport Parking

There are several options available for those looking for Sydney Domestic Airport parking and Sydney International Airport parking within walking distance. With on-site parking you can park just a few hundred metres away from the airport and walk to your terminal. Convenient, but often at a cost!

p1-sydneyP1 Car Park

Sydney Airport’s P1 Car Park is a purpose-built facility which caters to the Domestic Terminals. The P1 Car Park is undercover, and offers multi-storey car parking facilities within 5 minutes walking distance of the airport. This is one of the most expensive on-site options at the airport, with drive-up rates starting at $62.00 for 24 hours.

p2-sydneyP2 Car Park

Adjacent to P1, the P2 Car Park serves Sydney Airport’s Domestic Terminals, T2 and T3. Situated in close walking distance to Arrivals and Departures, the car park offers secure, undercover parking across several levels. Drive-up parking rates start at $62.00 per calendar day.

p3-sydneyP3 Car Park

P3 is an additional undercover multi-storey car park, with slightly lower rates than P1 and P2. The walk to the Domestic Terminals is a little longer (8 minutes), but prices are fractionally cheaper at $51.00 per day for drive-ins. The P3 Car Park was constructed with domestic travel in mind, and provides Sydney Airport parking for those travelling from Terminal 2 and Terminal 3.

p7-sydneyP7 Car Park

P7 was designed for use by passengers departing through the International Terminal, T1. Another expensive airport car parking option, the P7 Car Park is a multistorey, undercover facility within 5 minutes walking distance to the airport. Expect to pay $62.00 per day, based on drive-up rates, for the convenience of being on the doorstep to Departures/Arrivals.

p9-sydneyP9 Car Park

P9 is an outdoor car park, located close to the T1 International Terminal. The drive-up parking rates charged at the P9 Car Park are akin to P7, however the parking facility lacks the same level of weather protection and security.

guaranteed-spaceGuaranteed Space Parking

There are two Guaranteed Space parking areas at Sydney Airport. The first is an open air parking site between Terminals T2 & T3, on L4 of the P1 car park, and the second is an undercover facility, five minutes on foot from Terminal 1. There is a one day minimum stay, and parking spaces must be booked online in advance from the official Sydney Airport parking website.

blu-emuBlu Emu

The Blu Emu Car Park is Sydney Airport’s official, budget long stay parking option. Located within the airport precinct, it is both the most affordable on-site car park and the furthest from the terminals. There is a free shuttle bus service that operates between Blu Emu and the Domestic Terminals, which runs 24 hours/7 days per week. It’s worth noting that the shuttle service does not extend to T1 International.

Sydney Airport Parking Made Easy

The popularity of Sydney Airport, known colloquially as both Sydney Domestic Airport and Sydney International Airport, is however a double-edged sword. Finding a parking space at Sydney Airport at an affordable price can be quite a challenge. During periods of high demand, the cheapest car parks fill up quickly, and as supplies fall, prices increase considerably.

To make matters worse, the official on-site car parks at Sydney Airport were recently revealed to be the most expensive airport parking in the country, with sky-high day rates that earn Sydney Airport more than $181.00 every minute. That means that for domestic travellers, the cost of parking for even a short weekend trip away can easily exceed the cost of the flights themselves.

But thanks to online booking and the competitive pricing offered by private shuttle parking lots nearby, it’s possible to find a spot to suit every budget. Comparing the different private car parks near Sydney Airport is easy with Flyparks. You can search based on price, distance, and service type, making it easy to find the best option and book in less than 2 minutes.

More About Sydney Airport

Located 8km south of Sydney city centre, Sydney Kingsford Smith is Australia’s largest airport. With 40-50 million passengers travelling through its 3 terminals every year, it is both the busiest and most in demand airport in the country. Between 2016 and 2017, Sydney Airport handled 348,904 aircraft movements, to 46 domestic and 43 international destinations. It is the primary airport serving Sydney, and is a primary hub for Qantas, as well as a secondary hub for Jetstar Airways and Virgin Australia, as well as a focus city for Air New Zealand.

Sydney Airport has three passenger terminals. The International Terminal is separated from the two Domestic Terminals by a runway; therefore, connecting passengers will need to allow for longer transfer times.
