Owned and maintained by Auckland Airport, Park & Ride offers secure short term and long term parking, minutes away from the International and Domestic Terminals. There are 4,300 spaces at Park and Ride Auckland Airport, including 800 at Park & Ride Express. The Park & Ride Car Park is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and connected to Auckland Airport via shuttle buses, which run every 10 to 15 minutes.
Park & Ride is ideal for budget conscious domestic travellers looking for parking at Auckland Airport, who don’t mind the bus ride to the terminal and back. One of the most affordable on-site parking options at Auckland Airport, spaces at Park & Ride can be pre-booked online, or you can opt to pay drive-up rates. At present, it’s not possible to book at Park & Ride through Flyparks. You can however, search for low priced off-site Auckland Airport parking here.
Park & Ride, sometimes written as ‘Park and Ride’ or ‘Park N Ride’, is at 42 Verissimo Drive, which is approximately 5 to 10 minutes away from the terminals. If you’re coming from the north, you will need to proceed down onto George Bolt Memorial Drive, and then take a left onto Verissimo Drive at the Landing roundabout to get to the car park.
Park & Ride Express is located next to the Park & Ride reception. To use this service, you will need to leave your keys with reception, before catching the bus. Your car will be parked in a secure area while you are away and will be ready for you back at reception on your return. There are convenient pick-up and drop-off points at the Domestic and International terminal buildings, where you can catch or depart from the complimentary Park & Ride bus service.
There is a new Park & Ride Car Park set for completion in late 2020, named ‘Park & Ride South’, which will deliver 3,200 new car parking spaces, adding additional capacity to the 4,300 bays at the ‘Park & Ride North’ complex.
The new development should make travel easier for southern travellers who currently have to drive right through the airport to get to Park & Ride North.
Booking your parking online is fractionally cheaper than paying drive-up rates. Booking in advance is possible on Auckland Airport’s official website, and secures you a safe place to park your car whilst you’re away from home.
We compared the drive-up rates to the online rates, and found that with online bookings were only fractionally cheaper. For bookings of three days, you would only save $1.00 by reserving your space online, even if you booked one month ahead. For stays of one or two days, the prices were the same, when we searched for availability in late February, 2020.

It’s worth noting that prices can and do change over time, often around periods of high demand and major holidays. It’s during these times that it makes the most sense to reserve your parking bay online, as the Park & Ride can sell out. It’s also worth noting that the prices above apply to a variety of vehicle types, such as sedans, utes, four-wheel drives, station wagons, people movers, and luxury cars, but not to oversized vehicles such as caravans or trailers.
If you lose your ticket, you’ll be charged a lost ticket fee. In some instances the car park may use its licence place recognition and CCTV surveillance systems to determine the parking charges payable. CCTV surveillance and Licence Plate Recognition software may be in operation at the Park & Ride Car Park for security and operational monitoring purposes.
There are several privately run park and ride style parking facilities near Auckland Airport, which offer competitive rates and free shuttle transfers. If you’re looking for affordable long term parking, you may want to consider comparing prices online to find the best deal. We checked the rates advertised by two leading off-site parking providers against Park & Ride’s online rate, and found in most cases you can find a better deals on one, three, and four week stays.
For advance online bookings, the price of Park & Ride and Park & Ride Express was very often the same, whereas Aeroparks tended to undercut their rates by around 10%.
