Auckland Domestic Airport Parking

If you’re departing from Auckland Domestic Airport, you’ll have plenty of parking options to choose from. If you prefer to park your car as close to the terminal buildings as possible, Auckland Airport own and maintain a range of onsite car parks, such as Short Term Uncovered O, Short Term Covered and Uncovered M, Short Term Covered R, Long Term Uncovered L, Long Term Uncovered K, and Park & Ride Uncovered. If you’d prefer to save money on your car parking, you can book a space at an off-site car park such as Aeroparks or Platinum Parking.

Booking your parking online and in advance is the most cost effective way to secure a space. If you require Auckland Domestic Airport long term parking, you can save on the cost of drive-up parking simply by guaranteeing your space just after you purchase your flight tickets. The longer you leave it, the more likely that a car park will be reaching capacity, and charge a premium for the last available bays.

Domestic Long Term Parking

For trips of a few days in length or more, long stay parking is the most economical way to store your vehicle at or near the airport. For onsite parking, you can choose between Long Term Uncovered L, Long Term Uncovered K, and Park & Ride Uncovered. In addition, there are several off-site parking providers near Auckland Airport, which offer park and ride services. These car parks are further away from the terminal building, and run shuttle buses back and forth to ferry passengers to the airport and then back to the car park.

At present, it is only possible to book off-site Auckland Airport Domestic parking through Flyparks. If you would like to reserve a space at any of the official airport car parks, you will need to do so on Auckland Airport’s own website. You can however, see both sets of rates in the table below, for the purpose of comparison. Online rates for long term parking, for bookings made at least one week in advance of travel:

Drive-up rates for long term parking are more expensive, as seen in the table below. For longer stays of 24 hours or more, you can expect to spend at least $43.00 at Long Term Uncovered L. Your other options for long stay parking are Long Term Uncovered K, which charges $46.00 for the first day, and Park & Ride Uncovered which charges $32.00. Park & Ride Uncovered is located further away from the airport, and travellers will need to use the free shuttle buses to continue their journey onwards to their terminal. You can compare these rates below to get an idea of the cost difference:

If you’re comparing your parking options and wondering whether it’s worth booking in advance, it’s safe to say that you’ll save money this way, but just how much depends on the car park. Three days at the Long Term Uncovered K Car Park will cost you $92.00 if you opt to pay drive-up prices, and $82.00 if you book online. That’s a saving of just over 10%, for a few simple clicks. However, it will cost you $45.00 to stay at Park & Ride for three days, drive-up, and $44.00 if you book online. That’s only a 2% difference.

You can make greater savings by booking with an off-site parking provider, such as Aeroparks, as most of these car parks undercut the airport rates. You can park at Aeroparks for up to four days for $39.00, which is 25% less than the Park & Ride drive-up rate. If you’d like to know more about Aeroparks, or any of the off-site car parks mentioned in this article, you can click on their names. This will take you to an individual provider page, where you can find details such as opening hours, service descriptions, and addresses, plus read customer reviews and check photographs of the facilities.

Note!

Auckland Airport is currently making changes to the official car parks, closing some, expanding space in others, and reducing the size of many more. From March 2020, the Long Term Uncovered Car Park L near the Domestic Terminal, will be closed. This is so new facilities can be completed around the site. There are many other car parks you can use, including Car Park K which has over 1,200 spaces, and Aeroparks which has 760.

Domestic Short Term Parking

For short stays, you can pick from the aptly named Short Term Uncovered O, Short Term Covered and Uncovered M, or Short Term Covered R. Rates at Short Term Uncovered O start at $2.00 for 10 minutes and extend to $11.00 for up to one hour. Two hours will cost you at least $20.00, and then $2.50 for every half an hour block after. If you lose your ticket, you may have to pay the full day rate, which would be between $50.00 - $54.00, dependent on the car park.

It’s not possible to book short stays of a few hours online, so we’ve only included the drive-up rates for short stay parking. If you’re looking to spend more than 24 hours at Auckland Airport, you’ll likely find it more economical to use a long term lot.

Dropping Off and Picking Up Passengers

There is a designated area by the Domestic Terminal forecourt for immediate pick ups and drop offs. There are two coloured areas (the blue zone and red zone), which make it easier for the passenger and the driver picking them up to locate each other. If you are waiting for a traveller, you can also use The Wait Zone, which has over 50 spaces where you can wait, free of charge for up to 30 minutes.

An alternative option is to use the Drop & Ride area at Park & Ride, where you can safely drop off your friends or family. They can then catch one of the Park & Ride buses onwards to the Domestic Terminal. If you want to spend more time with friends or family at the airport, you will need to park in one of the short term car parks right across from the Domestic Terminal.
